With Module 21 we are excited to introduce professional short video clips that complement our extensive photographic documentation. Jean Levasseur, an accomplished videographer,
accompanied Scott Gilchrist on a 30-day photo tour of Southeast Asia in April of 2026. They documented architectural works in China, Vietnam, and Thailand. Several works by Zaha
Hadid are included from Hong Kong, the just opened and nothing short of spectacular Henderson Tower, the massive West Kowloon Terminus (2025), and the interconnected Petal Towers
(2025). Also in Hong Kong, significant Egyptian artifacts from the "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums" exhibition at the Palace Museum add an unexpected component.
In Shenzhen, China, adjacent to Hong Kong, extensive documentation of the incredible “Architecture of Possibility: Zaha Hadid Architects” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art and
Urban Planning was obtained with models, drawings, and photos of the evolution of the firm over five decades. Just outside of Shenzhen, the Marisfrolg Fashion Campus, by Architecture Van
Brandenburg, was also visited. The complex, which took 14 years to complete, combines soaring curvilinear geometry with organic, handcrafted textures and sustainable, recycled materials
in a massive biomimetic masterpiece, inspired by nature and the graceful movement of a bird in flight. Our new videographer was also able to get to Macau to fully document the
jaw-dropping free-form exoskeleton Morpheus Hotel by Zaha Hadid (2018). From Vietnam we include several sites: the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi, the Marble Mountain and
works from the Chan Museum in Da Nang, the recently re-built Japanese Bridge (original 1590’s) in Hoi An; and many works from the Ho Chi Min City Museum of Fine Arts in Saigon.
Images of the majestic, iconic, and serene Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) in Bangkok showcase a blend of Khmer-style architecture and intricate Thai artistry in its towering central
prang. The reconstructed Sanphet Prasat Palace is fully documented (original in Ayutthaya was burnt to the ground by the Burmese army when they sacked the city in 1767) located
at the Ancient City (south of Bangkok). There an outdoor museum with over 100 moved or reconstructed buildings and artifacts showcases the architecture and art of Thailand.
From the United States we include coverage of the Shelburne Museum in Vermont with its 39 historic buildings spread across 45 acres, the 220-foot Ticonderoga steamboat, and an
incredible American folk art collection. Jean has also provided material from the United Arab Emirates covering the grandiose and luminous Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and many of
the pavilions from Expo 2020. To round off this module many additional works of art are included from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
